The City Maintenance Department, currently consists of Superintendent Nate Ernst and Foreman, Darin Young , and two (2) full-time Street Maintenance Workers, Chad Cunningham. The Department also have the following part-time workers, Nick Virts, Justin Collins, Martin Russell & James (Speedy) DeLong. The Maintenance Department of the City runs these tasks with various responsibilities of City infrastructure. First and foremost is the maintenance of the streets within the City.
Notifying the Streets Department:
If you run into a pothole or notice one, you may call the Street Department at 740-852-1404 or the City Dispatcher at 740-852-1111. They are also responsible for snow removal during the snow emergency, it would be helpful that the vehicles be removed from the street in order or the plows to get as close to the curb as possible. They are responsible to make sure the traffic lights are working, so if anyone notices a light out, please call the above numbers.
The street lights are generally the responsibility of Ohio Edison, which you can report those to Ohio Edison Lights out number, or call the street Department and they will call Ohio Edison.
In the Summer and early Fall they are responsible for mowing City property grass, and also the park maintenance overall. They are responsible for the catch basins, and the storm sewer, if they get plugged. They have numerous other jobs such as removing dead animals from the streets, solving clogs in drainage ditches and numerous odd jobs that come up from time to time.

How You Can Prepare for Snow:
• Make sure you have adequate snow shovels or a working snow blower.
• Buy salt or sand.
• Figure out where you can park when a snow emergency is called.
• Make sure you know who in your neighborhood might need help with shoveling, errands, or other winter work and offer to help.
• And, as always, watch for information when it snows.
