VOLUNTEERS, COACHES, AND INSTRUCTORS
OFFICIALSThe Director schedules officials for most of the athletic leagues that are managed by the Parks and Recreation Department. The Director will assign certified or non-certified for the following leagues. Officials must be 15-years or older. Department Committee and Commission'sBen McCoy, Director of Parks and Recreation and the Department of Parks and Recreation has the support of three valuable committees and commission's that set guidelines for the department or are the Liason between the department and the City Council. You can visit the FORMS page for the monthly program released to the Parks and Recreation Commission and Public Service Committee by Director McCoy, and the official meeting minutes from the Community Center Committee. PARKS AND PLAYGROUND COMMISSIONThe Parks and Playground Commission is a trio of community residents that are appointed to the Commission by the Mayor. The members are appointed to three year terms. The responsibility of the Commission is to set the rules, regulations, guidelines of the Parks and Recreation Department and be the voice of the local community in regards to what projects need to be completed for the City of London The Parks and Recreation Commission holds public meetings the first Monday of each month at the Community Center (7:30pm) in the meeting room (Athletic and Leisure Hall)
PUBLIC SERVICE COMMITTEEThe Public Service Committee includes members of the City Council appointed by the City Council Presidents. The members are appointed to 12-month terms. The responsibility of the Committee is to be the liason between the Service Departments (Parks and Recreation, and Street) and the entire City Council. The Public Service Committee will present any ordinance, resolution, or item on behalf of the Department head at the City Council meeting. The Public Service committee will meet with the Parks and Recreation Director (Ben McCoy), Street Superintendent (Nathan Ernst), and Safety-Service Director (Steve Hume) the second Thursday of each month at 4:30pm (City Council Chambers).
COMMUNITY CENTER COMMITTEEThe Community Center Committee includes members of the City Council, City of London Employees, and a member of the Parks and Recreation Commission. The members are appointed to 12-month terms. The responsibility of the Committee is to work closely with the facility, looking at the infurstructure of the facility, capital projects, and property leasing. The Committee will meet the fourth Thursday of every month at 6:00pm (Community Center) in the meeting room.
