London Parks and Recreation
The availabilty of City parks and recreational activities is a vital part of the health and happiness of our community! The Mission of The City of London Parks and Recreation Department is to preserve, manage, and enhance public lands and natural resources and to develop programs for recreation and learning.
We are proud to provide the community a wide variety of recreational programming and services. The department continues to revise and expand program offerings in response to the needs and interests of the residents of London.
The Department maintains four community parks and public lands that cover 143 acres. The community parks offer facilities for activities including basketball, softball, skate boarding, swimming and other fitness activities.
- Along with playground equipment, Cowling Park located in downton London, offers picnic tables a gazebo and shelter house.
- Merri-Mac Park located south of downtown is home to several baseball fields and host adult softball leagues throughout the summer.
- The Park Avenue baketball and skate park is a popular place for youth to gather.
- The London Municipal Pool is open seven days a week 12pm until 8pm throughout the summer. Swim lessons are offered as well as various programs aimed at creating a fun, inviting atmosphere for families and children.
Although outside the responsibilites of the City Parks and Recreation Department, we are happy to help promote with area sports leagues such as London Area Baseball Council, London Area Football League, London Wrestling Club London Kiwanis Youth Soccer League, London Area Cheerleading League and London City Schools.
Many of our facilities can be rented for private events. Please call the City Administration office at 740-852-3243 for cost and availability.
